AI changed where questions go. What else changed when they stopped going to each other?
Individual capability is not the same as organizational capability, and AI is making that distinction increasingly important.
Three out of four regular AI users now ask AI the questions they once asked colleagues. The answer arrives faster. But those exchanges often carried more than the answer itself: the history behind an exception, the name of the person who needs to know, the context that changes how something should be handled, or an early signal that someone needs help.
None of that is easy to see on a productivity dashboard. Output can rise. People can become more self-sufficient and more confident. At the same time, the organization can lose some of the connections through which context, knowledge, and judgment used to travel.
That matters even more for newer staff. AI can give someone an answer before they have enough organizational context to know what sits behind it, what else it touches, or when the answer needs to travel somewhere else.
Individual gains do not automatically add up to organizational capability. What matters is whether the organization can recognize when something known, learned, or noticed in one place matters somewhere else, and make sure it gets there.
The latest navaroAI issue, What Changes When We Stop Asking Each Other?, examines how AI is changing the way questions, knowledge, context, and judgment move through an organization, and what small organizations need to develop in response.
New subscribers receive immediate access to the AI Orientation Guide for Small Businesses and Nonprofits — a practical resource covering the six questions organizations ask most often when beginning their AI journey.
